Intro to Figure Skating

Our Intro to Figure Skating class is a non-competitive, badge level program which provides a rewarding experience for all skaters.

This program focuses on general skating skills and introduces basic figure skating techniques.This program provides a foundation for skaters wanting to continue with either competitive or non-competitive figure skating programs. This class skates on half of the ice surface, sharing the rink with the Learn to Skate class.

This program is open to skaters age 5+. Skaters must turn 5 before the program begins. Some experience skating is required. Beginner skaters will be placed in the Learn to Skate program.

At the end of the season, the skaters in the two figure skating classes come together to perform in a skate show.

Registration for the 2024-2025 skating season will open on March 17 for current club members and on May 1 at 8:00am for new members.

 

Required Equipment

  • CSA certified hockey helmet (face cage not required)
  • Figure skates
  • Warm clothing in layers
  • Gloves or mitts

Figure Skating

The Figure Skating program is a non-competitive, recreational program which allows skaters to enjoy the sport of figure skating in a rewarding, comfortable atmosphere. 

This program focuses on figure skating skills including jumps, spins, footwork, balance, and control.

Previous figure skating experience is required:

  • Skaters advance to this level upon completion of the Intro to Figure Skating program.
  • Skaters with experience from another club or program are welcome upon approval from our coaching staff. Please contact us to discuss class requirements. 

Please note that since we are not a Skate Canada member club, skaters in our programs will not be registered in any Skate Canada membership databases. 

At the end of the season, the skaters in the two figure skating classes come together to perform in a skate show.
