Skater Assessments & Evaluations

Skaters in our Learn to Skate, Intro to Figure Skating, and Figure Skating classes are evaluated throughout the year and progress through our badge program. Our badge program covers a comprehensive series of skating skills from introductory skating skills to advanced figure skating. Skaters progress at their own rate and badges are used to benchmark their progress, which helps determine their grouping for future sessions. Skaters receive their assessments twice per year: once in December, and once in March.

You can view your skater's evaluations and achievements in your account: Click "Participants" then click "Evaluations" or "Achievements". If you have any questions about your skater's evaluations, please contact your coach.

Learn to Skate

Our Learn to Skate program covers levels 1 through 3 of our badge program.

These levels teach introductory skating skills for figure skating, hockey, or any other ice sport.

Skaters who complete these levels, can move on to the Intro to Figure Skating class, our Power Skating program, or into a Hockey, Ringette, Speed Skating, or other prorgam.

Intro to Figure Skating

Our Intro to Figure Skating program covers levels 4 through 7 of our badge program.

These levels reinforce good skating habits such as strong balance and control, and introduce figure skating skills such as introductory jumps and spins.

Skaters who complete these levels can move on to the Figure Skating class, or into another program such as competitive skating or synchronized skating.

Figure Skating

Our Figure Skating program progresses through a new net of badge levels, designed specifically to focus on figure skating skills such as more challenging jumps and spins and field movements.

These more challenging levels take longer to complete so skaters generally spend the entirity of their time at CCA in this class. Some skaters may choose to move on from these levels to or combine their learning with a competitive skating program or synchronized skating class.

The CCA Figure Skating Club is not affiliated with, or endorsed by Skate Canada. No relationship between the two entities exists, implied or otherwise.
