Skater & Parent Code of Conduct
Welcome to the CCA Figure Skating Club! To ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all our members, we ask that all skaters and their families adhere to the following code of conduct.
General Expectations
Respect Everyone: Treat all coaches, officials, volunteers, and fellow skaters with courtesy and respect. We expect all members to use appropriate language and behavior at all times.
Safety First: Skaters must listen to coaches and follow all instructions promptly to ensure everyone's safety on the ice.
Be a Good Sport: Encourage your fellow skaters. Remember that we are a team, and everyone is here to learn and improve, regardless of their skill level.
On-Ice Etiquette
Right of Way: To prevent collisions and keep everyone safe, slower skaters have the right of way. All skaters should be aware of their surroundings and give each other space. The only exception is a skater performing a routine to music; they also have the right of way.
Passing: Remember, figure skating is not a race. It is more important to perform skills correctly and with control than to go fast. If you need to pass another skater, do so with care and announce yourself if necessary to avoid startling them.
Falling: If you fall, get up quickly if you are able. If you need a moment, stay still and make sure no other skaters are coming towards you before getting up.
Exiting the Ice: When exiting the ice, do so promptly and safely. Do not loiter by the doors.
Locker Room Etiquette
Shared Space: The locker room is a shared space. Please keep it clean and tidy. Store your belongings neatly to ensure others have room to get ready.
Respect Privacy: Be respectful of the privacy of others. The use of cell phones, cameras, or other recording devices is strictly prohibited.
Adult Supervision: Parents and guardians should supervise their children in the locker room, particularly younger skaters, to ensure all rules are followed.
Parent and Guardian Expectations
Positive Support: We encourage parents to be positive role models by supporting all skaters and refraining from sideline coaching or negative comments.
Communication: If you have questions or concerns, please speak with a coach or club official at an appropriate time, not during a lesson or on the ice.
Volunteer: We welcome and rely on our volunteers to make the club a success. Please consider getting involved!
