Program Information
This program bridges the gap between basic skating and the specialized world of figure skating. Skaters work in a shared ice environment with our Learn to Skate program but receive focused instruction on figure-specific techniques.
Skaters in this program will work through levels 4 through 7 of our badge levels, focusing on the following:
- Introductory Edges: Refining balance, flexibility, and posture while learning the entry-level edges used in figure skating.
- Artistic Movement: Introducing basic turns, crossovers, and the flow required for choreographed sequences.
- Foundational Jumps & Spins: Providing a safe and supportive environment to begin exploring simple rotations and positions.
- Performance Readiness: Building the social and physical confidence needed to move into our advanced Figure Skating classes.
For more information about the skills that are covered in this class, and how skaters are evaluated, visit our Assessments & Evaluations page.
Dynamic Grouping Model
Within this program, skaters are placed into small groups based on their level and skating ability. As the season progresses and the skaters grow in confidence, the group’s focus evolves with them, and coaches adjust their curriculum to include more advanced skills. For example, the Purple Group would start at Level 3, and may transition into a Level 3/4 or Level 4 curriculum as the skaters master new techniques. This ensures the instruction always matches the group's collective progress without disrupting their team environment.
Purple Group - Level 4
Pink Group - Level 5
Orange Group - Level 6
Black Group - Level 6/7
