CCA Figure Skating Club Programs

Click on the program name for more information on that program, its skill focus and requirements. All lessons take place at the Flames Community Arenas in the Gold Arena.

Pre-School

Wednesday afternoons.

Our pre-school program teaches the fundamentals of skating to skaters age 3-5. 

This is a non-parented class.

Hockey & Power Skating

Hockey Buddies

Wednesday afternoons.

The Hockey Buddies program teaches improved skating and introductory hockey skills to skaters age 4-5.

Skaters must have basic skating skills. 

Power Skating

Thursday late afternoon.

The Power Skating program focuses on improving power, control, and strength for skaters 7+. Previous hockey/ringette experience is required.

This is a non-equipment class.

Learn to Skate

Tuesday and Thursday evening.

As part of our Learn to Skate/Intro to Figure Skating program, this class teaches all-around skating skills suitable for figure skating, hockey, ringette or any other ice sport. 

Skaters must turn 5 before the program begins. 

Skaters can wear figure skates or hockey skates.

Figure Skating

Intro to Figure Skating

Tuesday and Thursday evening.

As part of our Learn to Skate/Intro to Figure Skating program, this class teaches general skating skills and introduces basic figure skating techniques.

Skaters must turn 5 before the program begins. Figure skates are encouraged. 

Figure Skating

Tuesday and Thursday late afternoon.

This twice weekly program focuses on figure skating skills. Skaters must wear figure skates.

Skaters advance to this program upon completion of our Intro to Figure Skating class. Skaters who complete the appropriate level will be invited to advance to this class. Skaters with experience from another club or program are welcome upon approval from our coaching staff.

How do our programs connect? What is the path that skaters will take?

Skaters will proceed through our programs as outlined below. Of course, new skaters and skaters with experience from another club are always welcome. 

It is not necessary to have prior skating experience to join the Learn to Skate program, but many skaters will join after completion of our Pre-School program. New skaters with no skating experience are welcome in the Learn to Skate classes. Prior skating experience is required to join the Hockey Buddies program. Prior experience in a figure skating program is required to join the Figure Skating classes.
