Figure Skating Coach
Position Information
- 1 full year position (October to March) and 1 temporary position (October to December
- Coaches are involved in three programs: Learn to Skate, Intro to Figure Skating, and Figure Skating
- Total of 4 hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm
- Start date is October 10, 2023
Program Information
- Learn to Skate: Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30-6:00
- This program focuses on general skating skills with an emphasis on balance, strength, and control. This program is open to skaters of all levels with or without prior skating experience, and provides a foundation for skaters wanting to proceed with figure skating, hockey, or any other ice sport.
- Skaters aged 5+
- Intro to Figure Skating: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00-6:30
- This program focuses on general skating skills and introduces basic figure skating techniques. This program provides a foundation for skaters wanting to continue with either competitive or non-competitive figure skating programs.
- Skaters aged 5+ with prior skating experience.
- Figure Skating: Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-5:30
- This program focuses on figure skating skills including jumps, spins, footwork, balance, and control.
- No age requirement, but skaters must have prior figure skating experience or have completed our Intro to Figure Skating program.
- All of our programs are group lesson based. No private coaching is offered.
Responsibilities
- Leading on-ice group programming and group games/activities
- Assist with program planning in collaboration with other coaches and Head Coach
- Assist with choreography and planning for the year-end skate show
- Performing participant evaluations as scheduled and updating databases
Requirements
- Strong figure skating background, experience as an instructor or coach is considered a strong asset
- Professional, fun, and engaging
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to self-direct and manage/lead your groups with minimal supervision
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Power Skating Coach
Position Information
- 1 full year position (October to March) and 1 temporary position (October to December) for the Power Skating program.
- This program runs on Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:30pm for a total of 0.75 hours per week
- Start date is October 12, 2023
Program Information
- Thursdays 3:45-4:30pm
- This program builds on skaters' existing hockey skills and refines their overall skating ability with a focus on posture, balance, control, and edge work.
- Skaters in this program are ages 7-12.
Responsibilities
- Planning on-ice programming in collaboration with other coaches and Head Coach.
- Leading on-ice programming including group games and activities
- Performing participant evaluations and updating databases
Requirements
- Strong hockey or ringette background, experience as an instructor, coach, or trainer is considered a strong asset
- Professional, fun, and engaging
